Dental implants are made up of 3 parts. The implant itself is gently embedded under local anaesthetic into your jawbone and this acts as the new tooth root. A titanium post joins on to this which then connects the final part – the crown which sits on top and is the visible tooth that you can see in your mouth.

Generally, the type of dental implant that you have will depend upon how many missing or failing teeth that you have and how many you want to replace. We recommend that you book a consultation with one of our knowledgeable team to discuss which option might be best for you.
Single dental implant
If you are missing a single tooth or have just one failing tooth, then a single dental implant is best for you. The implant will be fitted into your jawbone using a local anaesthetic and then a temporary crown or new tooth is fitted on top until we custom make your final crown. Sometimes this whole process can be offered in the space of one appointment which means you get same day teeth.
All-on-4 dental implants
If you have many missing teeth or not teeth at all, then all-on-4 dental implants are worth considering. Using just 4 implants inserted into your top or bottom jaw will support a full set of natural looking teeth. This option may sound dramatic, but it is a cost-effective way to replace missing teeth rather than having several individual implants. All-on-4 dental implants also has a faster healing time than having several individual implants.

Ania is a UK graduate who has worked in Scotland, before joining our group. She has advanced knowledge in specialized areas of dentistry including implants and facial aesthetics. She gained her qualifications in Facial Aesthetics in 2014 and passed her MFDS examinations in 2016. She then completed an extensive implant Academy course in London and is currently completing the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons, London FGDP Postgraduate Diploma in Implant Dentistry.Ania will be helping you get your smile back by presenting you with the latest cutting-edge options for tooth replacement. Frequently asked questions about Dental Implants
Do dental implants hurt?
Dental implants do involve a form of surgery and as with any form of surgery, you may notice that you feel a bit sore once the local anaesethic has worn off. During the procedure itself, you will not feel anything at all as the anaesthetic numbs the area being treated. Once the soreness has gone, you will back to your usual self. You will not feel the dental implants in your mouth at all.
How long do dental implants last?
This will vary according to each patient, but most patients find that their dental implants last for many years. You can help to promote the longevity of your dental implants by following a thorough dental care routine with regular brushing and trips to the dentist and hygienist.
If I have a tooth removed will I be left with a gap?
It is possible to have a dental implant placed directly after having a tooth extracted, but we would need to assess the health of your gums before doing so. We would need to wait to see if there are any signs of infection in the gum. We would not leave you with a gap in your teeth, we can offer several temporary solutions before starting the dental implant process.
